‘Plastic Alto’ will refer to ‘Black’ rather than ‘black’ as an editorial style to convey power to those that the term describes

I read John Eligon article in the New York Times from yesterday Saturday, June 27, 2020, And most specifically the ideas attributed to Professor Whitney Pirtle of University California at Merced. So going forward I will speak of Black people Black culture Black power Black Lives Matter.

b 2 B VS Liverpool champs oh sit down

I am reading internet, i’m reading tear sheets, Im reding combination internet and New York Times tear sheets, or not

i start my morning by walking the dog then sitting to read The New York Times. I had two tear sheets from yesterday’s news. Actually I carried a bit of it in my bath robe because I could not find Duffy’s little blue bags.
The two tear sheets are:
1) an article about how Black Lives Matter had precipitated a shift in newspaper editing style from “black” to “Black” in terms of discussing “race”;
2) Liverpool has won a championship and they have a great Egyptian scorere named Mo Salah and the fans — back in the day but it would be meta-cool to see if the recent broadcasts feature this — would sing chant something based on a James song that was big in UK but not here: the song is “Oh Sit Down” and it is about how if you are feeling suicidal or maybe violent you should sit down with a friend and have some Liptons but not brewed columbine which is likely poison, like the media. In the US for James whose singer is not named James but Zach or Vince or Wyatt or Zlot or Mader or Chuck or Knipp or something Buck or Henry we have, and Matt Nathanson who is not related to Nathan dot com although Nathan’s cousin Josh is related to Dewey Redman who is not Native American although Don Cherry his friend is or was, he only comes when he’s on top, like liverpool. Or liver puddle. Terry meanwhile bought some chopped liver from Wise Sons.
I should mention here that we can trace the Levi’s back six or seven generations to being schutz-juden in Germany and 300 cousins, most of whom were if you excuse the expression meat packers yet we don’t know dick about the Weisses and i suspect that Weiss was something else more Beyond the Pale than German Juden.
So maybe Earthwise is done and I should go all in to the hilt the whole six yards for Lions With Wings or maybe WeissLions with Owlwings. White lions who know and are almost as bookish and weirdly wordly like owls. Whoooo. Whooo. knows.
And that’s just my preamble, beaches.

edit to add 15 emails two posts and three hours later: Black is the new black.

A call to censure Pat Burt

8E8D5F33-C139-41F1-8217-0CD86A1B186B

BRM in a BLM new world spells defeat for da burt.

Pat Burt is a bully he does not deserve a second crack at this; Specially in the me -too  and Black lives matter era the last thing Palo Alto needs is a macho jock white guy who is used to bossing people around; and he triggered the grand jury report (27 University w 7.7 acres of parkland) which we never truly responded to; Arrillaga; see also Castilleja CUP and new expansion. Ask around why so few of Pat’s contemporaries on commission or council are listed as supporters.

Stickers and tattoos and a bit of world views

Guest column by Sara Dumanske
(I met Sara when she worked at Karen Imperial’s gallery on Bryant St in Palo Alto; I had her stickers on the bumper of my Chevy Cruz until I sold that about six months ago).

If you’ve ever been five years old you’ve probably found some stickers and promptly decided the
next logical step was to cover yourself in them. You were, of course, a genius!
As an illustrator, I find designing my next sticker and designing my next tattoo to be the exact
same process. The steps are as follows:
1. Pick a subject.
It could be a pop-culture reference, a stylized quote, or just some funny idea you had like an
“ice cream sand-dollar wich”.
2. Design it.
You have to think about the overall shape – -how is it going to look on a sticker sheet, in relation
to other stickers you have? Et & c. The same goes for a tattoo – -how is it going to look on your
body, in relation to the other tattoos you have? Et & c.
3. Make it happen!
My favorite sticker making websites are stickerapp.com and stickermule.com because there
are plenty of product options and they are easy-to-use. I upload my artwork (either originally digital
or scanned and photoshopped to perfection), play about, and place an order.
Once I have a tattoo idea I shop the #SFTattoo or #OaklandTattoo pages on Instagram and
find the perfect artist to execute my idea. In the case of my “ice cream sand-dollar wich” I
found Jess Koala (@jess_koala_tattoo) at Castro Tattoo and reached out. Together we created
what is my favorite tattoo to date and a relationship that has led and will lead to more tattoos
in years to come.
Really, tattoos are just permanent stickers on your body and stickers are just tattoos for
everyday objects. My reusable water-bottle has thoughtfully laid out stickers the same way a
tattoo artist would lay out a tattoo sleeve. So whether you are planning on poking stickers onto
laptops or stick-and-poking tattoos on yourself, it all starts out with a great idea.
Sara Dumanske is an artist/illustrator/writer who has designed book covers, stationery, and
many a sticker. You can find her @PaintedWit on Instagram and Etsy, and at paintedwit.com.

If you meet Sara you might ask to see her sleeve

But not to be confused with Marilee Talkington and her “sticky time”.

And1:

Nor the reggae jazz drummer Sticky who played with Michael Franti

what about a bird who is also a hippie, a cross between Woodpecker, Woody Woodpecker and like Jerry Garcia, a “ Woodstocker” in the song below — right after he says “Sticky on percussion, mashing up the place” — there’s a bird I think in the Woodstock poster plus didn’t Charles Schultz peanuts have a Woodstock bird — is that same bird? Bird 🦢 🐦 🦅

just a hipper or hippier version of the Schultz character or the poster bird

Jim Eshelman pole vault for Stanford, 1966

He was also a Cubberley grad. I’d nominate him for the Cubberley Hall of Fame (talk to Dan Fowlkes, Bret Baird or Hans Delannoy).
But going forward, with our tax dollars from COPA and PAUSD using the site for cultural and educational post-BLM matters, we need to rename the space, for someone not associated with eugenics.
How about The Bill Green Center? (For national champion in the 400, but missed the 1980 Moscow Olympics and died young due to a neuromuscular disease: no, It was cancer but ironically enough presented as loss of movement of his feet as Keith Peters describes in a great obituary: metastatic esophageal cancer after an undetected malignant spinal tumor caused sudden paraplegia.
