leonard koppett, who is in the sportswriters’ wing of the baseball hall of fame, in semi-retirement from the new york herald, was our editor in chief. mario dianda the editor of the daily news was a county reporter. ray ratto was a sports columnist and would take naps on koppett’s couch.
