White man speaks truth

Good for the city council to tell developers NO to more jobs. We are in the mess we are in now (city and state wide) from building too many jobs and no housing. Second we should not overwhelm this site with too many people. We live in the most polluted state, don’t have good sources of water, and the environment is a mess. Why make it worse?

Just a reminder – the city owes the residents of this city 100s of acres of park space under the comprehensive plan of 4 acres per 1000 residents. They have added many thousands of people and virtually no park space. This spot is a prime area for a large community center and park. They are woefully underserved. We need a dedicated funding source to purchase park space for the community. It is not being adequately addressed by the council.

So cheers for keeping the density reasonable and not adding more jobs. Please work on parks/ open space and not overwhelming our city infrastructure and environment. attributed to TMP downtown north

Free concert today at Lytton Plaza, jazz trio, nooner, encore from Mayor Tom’s ’Together Again Palo Alto’ series, by Earthwise

I’ve got this cool new trio – me, Raffi Garabedian -tenor sax, Danny Lublin-Laden – trombone. Sent by Scott Amendola, drums a few months ago but i just added it to the schedule when the police added Thursday, September 23 to the six days I actually had concerts scheduled. They put up parking passes for us for five spaces at the plaza and, I think, added the seventh day by mistake.

The show must go on.

If Lytton is somehow double booked tomorow, look for us 12 to 1 at Cogswell Plaza or City Hall.

Otherwise the next official Earthwise concert at Lytton Plaza is Hawktail on Saturday, October 2, next month. I’m actualy trying to rally some Gunn alumni and classmates to watch the Gunn-Saratoga football game Friday night then my concert Saturday. Saratoga is Falcons if that somehow makes it all hang together, birds of a feather, whatever.

Jerry Granelli

“What does it take to play music with another human being?” he asked in a streaming workshopposted a day before he died. “What it takes is the same things it takes to live together as human beings: appreciation of other, not being completely self-centered — which is kind of a hard one — kindness to yourself and being completely present and awake.”

Ethan Iverson published an obituary for Jerry Granelli. It resonated because Lee Townsend once sent me his press kit, for a possible Palo Alto play. I never heard him, but I had Seward McCain the bassist be on a panel about jazz history. Seward, like Granelli, played with Vince Guaraldi. As a consequence of my esoteric intro to this excellent artist, I confuse him with Paul Motian another drummer, roughly 10 years older, connected somehow to Lee Townsend, Phyllis Oyama, Bill Frisell and or Jenny Scheinman.

Also, my Dayna Stephens show was made possible by the fact that Billy Hart played in Healdsburg. Who Ethan plays with, maybe Ethan was in town to0. If Healdsburg is my town.
