Joyce YuJean Lee vs Helen Sung

I know her through my former newspaper coeditor A—, Who married Who married a sister

I noticed her, On Sunnyside, before my friend A had mentioned her. But also a collaborator John Ellis reeds was my client for 13 months when he signed with hyena

I think I’m still the only person on the Internet who is trying to compare the visual artist Joyce Yu Jean Lee with the pianist Helen Sung: they’re cousins.

Aquarium by Packard VS Aquarium by Bong

bong

I am watching the sci fi dystopia movie by the Korean filmmaker Bong Joon Ho, Snowpiercer.

There’s a scene where they visit the fancy sushi bar cum archive. Reminds that Stanford and Jordan liked this kind of thing. (Also, Wiggins, Thomas et cetera).

The Packard Foundation created the amazing Monterey Aquarium. Our only quibble is that there seems to be loud upbeat music in the floors, to stimulate children.

Did the Packards imagine a day when this was an important specimen archive, accessble only to elites?

Hey, 19 that’s 8 and 1

dellenbach

That’s funny in that due to my cold I decided, despite emailing a list of 30 people about the game, to stay home. But a couple hours earlier at the Pace Palo Alto Picasso Show opening I saw a well known activist and dissident and asked her if she was going to the big game and she said “why would I go to a football game?” and I said “to see your grandson?” — . And she said she doesn’t support football due to the news coming out about CTE. I had a similar discussion with her husband.

Gunn is now 8-1 with a win next week at Homestead will have their third or fourth championship in 50 plus seasons — yes, I know its the lower divison.

Points well taken, but i know a lot of people my generation — guys in their forties — who are very successful despite having played football.

Myself? I was a contributor but not a star for the Terman 8th grade team. Flag football But Mom would not let me play for Gunn and sent me to Stanford tennis camp the week of double days.

Kudos to coach Miller and his lads. Photo by Butch Garcia for The Weekly

Sure looks good!

Masaki Aerts — that’s a thing!

I’m a little biased, but Derek Kyler to Masaki Aerts is WAY better than Flutie to Brennan:

Dartmouth beats Harvard on a 43 yard Hail Mary to Masaki Aerts as time runs out, 9-6.

Dartmouth plays Princeton at Yankee Stadium on week from today, November 9, 2019, to celebrate 150 years of Collegiate football and 250 years of Dartmouth College.

I cannot thing of anything else on my schedule for November 8, 9, 10.

I have a Matt the Electrician show on sale for November 16 at Cubberley H-1.

I have a Dave Douglas Engage jazz show at The Mitch for Thursday, November 21.

But nothing comes to mind for November 9. {I price $750 flights on JetBlue and $89 seats for the Game but also remembered I have tickets to the Sharks-Predators Saturday night, my first Sharks game in 20 years. So no go}

You know, my wife says she went by Aquinas church in Palo Alto an hour or so ago and caught the eye of the priest and decided to join the Mass — is there a connection? Between Dartmouth’s Hail Mary win and Terry going to Mass?

Hail Masaki!

(I was also peeping at Dartmouth coaching staff member Jen King, same name as a classmate of mine, a twin named Jen King, and it was King and her 2,000 twitter followers that alerted me to the nature of the 9-6 win, the Hail Mary).

“A miracle…Dartmouth stays undefeated!” (It looks to me like they were trailing 6-3 in a field goal contest, then were driving to win, threw and interception, fumbled, made a stop in the redzone, had a miracle drive with no timeouts 90 plus yards, the QB Derek Kyler slipped a tackle in the rush like Steve Young or Ken Stabler, threw it as time ran out, from 50 yards, tip drill in sea of hands at the goal line and Masaki Aerts came up with the ball for the win and immortality — -maybe not just in Plastic Alto. Let’s see if its on SportsCenter.

Gucci kicks VS Bismarck Biyombo

A7C41E44-0320-467C-8FEA-EA3BE69D52ED

They have Little Bees on it

610CDF77-E63D-472B-B718-DD8A1142E17E

He’s a tall Nigerian guy who plays for the Charlotte hornets who are in town today against the Warriors

a couple more thoughts, edit to add:

  1. Biyombo is from Congo not Nigeria.
  2. When did the Hornets stop being the Bobcats and why?
  3. Who is their best player?
  4. Dartmouth has Harvard today, or did: who won? Dartmouth beat Harvard 9-6 and also in Women’s rugby and also apparently play football in Yankee Stadium next week versus Princeton:Screen Shot 2019-11-02 at 1.43.21 PM.png
  5. Hornets logo is this:

From a video w Don Julin seen 200,000 times

With Molly at The Mitch, from a video about to debut in about 3 minutes (6 min RT approximately)

At Molly’s show, with her four piece side band, Sully took a turn with sis, on Townes Van Zandt’s “White Freightliner Blues” — which they used to play with their family band at least since 2014:

As a coda to my wonderful week in Nashville for IEBA I befriended a musician named Joe West at the airport and gifted him my tickets to see Molly and  1LOB at Country Music Hall Of Fame Auditorium December 11.

I’m fixing to get Sullivan Tuttle with AJ Lee duo to play with Tim and Greg of The Mother Hips back at The Mitch March 6 & 7.

Blue Summit featuring AJ Lee and Sullivan Tuttle perform an early show st Sam’s smoked meats on Bascom Wednesday. Back on September 30, as you can see in the above video, Molly gave. Shout out to AJ sitting third row far aisle.

E1C6DE26-F0D6-440A-B2F2-0CA935F84C3B

If it’s true that AJ Lee performs 250 Times a year, I e missed the first thousand shows. Past is prologue.

and1; I did buy a Billy Strings cd while in Nashville. Along with a Molly EP and an AJ. Or Tuttles w AJ. Apparently Molly and Billy were housemates for a spell. His site lists 26 shows, 20 of which are sold out, including two each at Cats Cradle and Brooklyn Bowl.

Andand: I bought a pair of tix for Jake S uke show at Campbell Heritage Theatre the former HIgh School for next spring.
