(We last saw Herb Wong at Sam Smidt’s birthday party. They were neighbors. Terry knows or knew Sam well, while I have only met him a few times. I reminded Herb who I was and gave him a not too inappropriately intense rundown of how I saw the jazz scene, and especially the lack of a venue here, as he and his wife were leaving the party the same time as we were. He gave me his card.
