this was supposed to be a repertoire column about “for once in my life” by ron miller, and the recording history (stevie wonder, tony bennett, ella fitzgerald and more) then went into other stevie wonder hits by same songwriter, then to list of who else, and i credit claire daly for bringing it to me, and a riff on napoleon maddox in cincy, list of as many impressive people joan baez et all doing this one, then to what i think of as a gem of a find. only 6 views so far, and her first video. haven’t quite caught her actual name, she states at start.

i’m researching three standards: for once in my life, fly me to the moon and ipanema.
antonio carlos jobim and norman gimbel
fly aka “in other words” 1954 bart howard and sinatra 1964 but also numerous others and see grace potter for pan am show, and elvis costello for third rock from sun

i found grace potter self released cd in a dress shop on the burlington mall i believe it was fourth of july 2006, driving up from philly. she already had a top drawer agent so was picked to click. here she is in “tush”, from central park, digression from “fly me”

i notice bart howard’s “fly me to the moon” as an instrumental, maybe at the wedding, in lars von trier “melancholia”

i’m adrift here but: I hate contests. It’s kinda evil that 625 people would post karaoke tracks to try to join Queen on tour:
